The requirements for lifeboats, rescue boats and life rafts

1. "International passenger ships equipped with lifeboats should be able to accommodate 50% of the total number of people on board, at least not less than 37.5% (others are allowed to be replaced by life rafts).".

 

2. A cargo ship with a length not less than 85 meters is equipped with a lifeboat on each side, which can accommodate 100% of the total number of people on board.

 

3. The structural form of the lifeboat equipped is fully enclosed or partially enclosed.

 

4. Passenger ships not less than 500 gross tons shall be equipped with at least one rescue boat on each side.

 

5. Passenger ships with a gross tonnage less than 500 are equipped with at least one rescue boat.

 

6. The entire cargo ship shall be equipped with at least one rescue boat.

 

7. If the lifeboat meets the requirements for rescue boats, it is allowed to replace the rescue boat with a lifeboat.

 

8. International passenger ships equipped with life rafts can accommodate 25% of the total number of people on board.

 

9. Cargo ships equipped with liferafts can accommodate 100% of the total number of people on board.
